In a new chat with Hip TV, Mavin Records singer Reekado Banks, has revealed the kind of relationship he has with YBNL rapper Lil’ Kesh. Reekado Banks’ victory at the Headies started the clash between Olamide and Don Jazzy. In the interview, Reekado Banks said he wasn’t close friends with Lil Kesh but maintained that they have a cordial relationship despite the Headies drama. “We weren’t the closest of friends like close, close, close. It wasn’t like we talked everyday but we talked once in a while. He called me once in a while. I called him once in a while. And same as now, it still happens that way. Being humble is not an accusation anyone can ever lob at Kanye West, and he keeps proving that point of view right. The rapper has been working on his seventh studio album for a while now, and released some songs- all the while keeping fans updated through the process. Early Monday (Sunday night in the US), the rapper tweeted the completed tracklist for the album, handwritten on a piece of paper. In characteristic Kanye form, he classified it as the ‘best album of all time’. The tweet revealed ‘Swish’ would have only ten tracks, with recent hits like ‘Only One’ and ‘All Day’ not making the cut for the album. ‘Swish’ follows 2012’s Yeezus, and is set for release on the 11th of February. Wizkid has landed another song theft accusation in the space of two weeks from another artiste following a similar clash with singer, Dammy Krane . The latest one comes from veteran dancehall act and a former member of the defunct Afro-pop singing trio, Plantashun Boyz, Ahmedu Augustine, widely known as Blackface . According to him, the popular hit tune, Ojuelegba by the singer was jacked from one from of his songs entitled,Killa off his 2010 Dancehall Business album. “If you check properly, you would realise that Wizkid’s hit, Ojuelegba, sounds exactly the same as the track 13 on my dancehall album released as far back as 2010. You need to listen to that album to know what I am talking about. The song is so similar that I think it shouldn’t be that way,” Blackface alleged in an interview with Punch.

After 10 years and eight studio albums with Def Jam Records, Rick Ross has left the company and signed a new deal with Epic Records. Epic announced the news on Friday via Twitter, posting a photo of Ross with the label’s chairman and CEO L.A. Reid and its president Sylvia Rhone. With the move, Ross leaves Def Jan after a decade with the Universal Music Group imprint — his label since releasing his debut album, Port of Miami, in 2006. In December, he released his 8th studio album, Black Market. As for Ross’ Maybach Music Group imprint — home to Meek Mill , Wale and others — it’s not clear whether it’ll join him at Epic. MMG has been distributed by Atlantic since 2013 and had deals with with Warner Bros. and Def Jam, respectively, before.

Several African Americans actors and directors have slammed the Academy Awards (Oscars) for not nominating any black actor for the second successive year. A-listers like Jada Pinkett-Smith and Spike Lee have even announced that they are boycotting the Oscars. One of the few Caucasian actors who have come out publicly to slam the all-white Oscar 2016 nominations is George Clooney. Clooney says he understands the gripe from African Americans. “I think that African Americans have a real fair point that the industry isn’t representing them well enough. Apparently, the entire black community in American entertainment are mad that ‘Black’ films and film makers were excluded in this year’s Oscar Awards nomination list. Snoop Dogg took to his Instagram on January 18 to express his disappointment over the same issue. In a video post on his page, Snoop laments: “Someone just asked me if I’m gonna watch the motherf**king Oscars… f**k no. Why am I gonna watch that f**king bullshit for? Kafayat Oluwatoyin Ameh said she did not witness what happened or stage or the green room for the artistes because she was in her own green room. Another major death hits showbiz, as Celine Dion’s husband René Angélil succumbs to the throat cancer that has been bugging him for over a decade now. Angélil passed away on the morning of Thursday, January 14, a statement from a rep for the family revealed. The 73 year old for several years served not only as the talented singer’s husband, but her mentor and manager as well; before the extremities of his condition curtailed his role. “Rene Angelil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer,” the rep said in the statement obtained by PEOPLE .
