Another major death hits showbiz, as Celine Dion’s husband René Angélil succumbs to the throat cancer that has been bugging him for over a decade now. Angélil passed away on the morning of Thursday, January 14, a statement from a rep for the family revealed. The 73 year old for several years served not only as the talented singer’s husband, but her mentor and manager as well; before the extremities of his condition curtailed his role. “Rene Angelil, 73, passed away this morning at his home in Las Vegas after a long and courageous battle against cancer,” the rep said in the statement obtained by PEOPLE .
