John Obi Mikel is in the middle of a transfer saga again and this time he seems to be the one rightly blowing the trumpet. It’s been a reoccurring theme in the Nigerian’s career: to be linked with a move away from Chelsea. The Blues, only last season, were ready to offload the midfielder for just £4 million to a club just off the Gulf coast. However, the 27-year-old remained at Stamford Bridge, which culminated in him adding two more trophies to his collection. With the return of Nemanja Matic 18 months ago, playing time, no doubt, was drastically reduced, making many ponder over his usefulness for the side. But when Jose Mourinho went ahead to acquire Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona last summer, which further pinned Mikel to the back-end of the proverbial Chelsea ‘bus’, it was clear his time in West London could be drawing to an end.
