OFFICIAL: Andre Berto To Be Floyd Mayweather’s Final Opponent

Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather would fight fellow American Andre Berto in his final bout before finally hanging up his gloves on September 12.

The undefeated, pound for pound king of boxing, has chosen the 31 year old to be the fighter to give him his final challenge, TMZ has confirmed.

Mayweather fought Pacquiao in May, in the most lucrative fight of all time. Mayweather earned over $200m from his 36 minutes of tiptoeing around Pacquiao.

For what would be his swansong, Mayweather has chosen a fighter most people believe would not pose much of a challenge. Berto (33-3), has won his last two fights, but has lost three of his last six.

The fight would not be on pay-per-view, but would rather be aired by Television network CBS.

Berto told TMZ “It’s a pleasure and honour to be in this position and I’m looking forward to capitalising on every moment of it”.

Mayweather is unbeaten in 48 fights, and is planning to retire with a 49th win, to match Rocky Marciano’s iconic record. Berto is hardly the one to stop that from happening.
