Rihanna’s Lawyers Blasts Supposed Revelations From New Book That Says Rumoured Jay-Z Affair Was A Publicity Stunt
The recently released book ‘Becoming Beyoncé: The Untold Story‘, claimed that a publicist who used to work for the then 17 year old Rihanna leaked rumours of an affair to generate publicity for her first single ‘Pon De Replay’.
The entire thing became so serious, the book claims, that Beyonce and Jay-Z split up for a year.
-Rihanna has remained pretty mum about the entire affair, but her lawyer told Page Six that the publicist who was supposed to have leaked the story never worked for Rihanna.
“I was working for Vada Nobles, who wrote and produced ‘Pon de Replay,’” Jonathan Hay is quoted in R. Randy Taraborrelli’s ‘Becoming Beyoncé.’
“It was my job to make sure she hit . . . In an effort to generate some interest . . . I began to plant . . . stories that Jay and Rihanna were having a hot romance.”
But Rihanna’s lawyers refute the allegation.
“Hay was never Rihanna’s publicist or had any personal or professional relationship with her,” Rihanna’s lawyer Jordan Siev told Page Six.
And Nobles, the composer who supposedly hired Hay, also says something along the same lines.
“I met this guy once, maybe twice . . . I did not hire Jonathan Hay to promote Rihanna [or] ‘Pon de Replay’ . . . He had nothing to do with Rihanna. Someone I knew referred this guy [to me as a publicist], I said, ‘Let’s see what he can do’ . . . He was using my name and what I was doing to get traction for himself.”
Jonathan Hay himself told the site he has never spoken to the author of that book, except this past week after his ‘revelations’ became news. It looks like the book would be more fiction than fact.
