The Government & The Entertainment Industry

The Federal Government recently placed a ban on the shooting of music videos and movies abroad, The news didn't go down well with some celebrities. Some of the entertainers took to their social media pages to rant and show their distaste about the recent decree by the government. Yes it is true that the economy of the country is bad and the government are to be blamed for not keeping to their promises. I also won't blame the citizens for ranting and pouring out their heart  about the situation of the country. The only problem now is Nigerians have made it  a very big habit of complaining and depending excessively on the government for virtually everything. What happened to we trying our best in our own little way to make the country better, create employments and stop ranting and complaining too much of the lack of support from the government. We are getting to addicted to that habit of complaining and that blind folds us from seeing the positive side of everything. I personally think it is a black man's problem.

Judging from the points the masses are trying to make as regards the recent decree, i read a comment by an individual says, why will some Government officials like the president travel abroad for medical checkup, does that mean we don't have better hospitals here in Africa. To me that was a great point too, if the government wants to place a ban on the production of music videos and movies, they should be ready to invest in the creative industry.

Somehow The Minister of Information and Culture Mr Lai Mohammed is making a point as regards to what he said about the creative Industry. How do we even showcase our culture to the world , when we keep emulating the western ways of life and infusing it into our creative Industry .

African Artist travel abroad shoot Music videos with white nude models, which is not our thing and they promote it here in Africa for local consumption. The world needs to see how beautiful Africa is and how beautiful our culture looks. If every Artist decides to start producing their creative contents Abroad, we are automatically taking away Jobs from local producers, there by creating unemployment.

We also need to understand that if we can't be able to showcase how beautiful Africa is, we are automatically killing the Tourism Sector. Nevertheless I am not in complete support of the ban. I suggest a limit should be set and Laws to guide it. I also suggest the government invest more in the creative Industry if they really want to control it
